Cleveland Institute of Music
On January 17, 2015, piano master Adrian Daly from Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) dominated a public master class as well as admission session at the concert hall in the fifth floor of our school.
Mr. Adrian Daly introduced the school situation to students and parents who have intentions to apply CIM and answered some consulting confusions of those parents. Later, in the master class, he gave instructions to four students of our school. During the precious and limited schedule, he had not only presented a broader world and directions for our students in applying future colleges, but also opened up a prospective study horizon for them and taught them the abilities to think independently and accept different opinions.
Located in Ohio US, CIM was founded in 1920. It has earned the reputation of a world-advanced internationalized conservatory that are characterized with a profound history of near hundred old and intimate cooperation among students and faculties. CIM is one of the most renowned conservatories in US and it is a cradle that cultivates talents for well-know art institutions around the world.
Due to their supereminent musical accomplishment and comprehensive competences, alumni of CIM are welcomed by some of the most noted musical institutions, symphony orchestra and chorus, such as Florida Symphony and Chicago Symphony. Many of its graduates have signed contracts with distinguished symphony orchestras and some have become chief violinists while some principals. CIM has well established relationship with world-famous bands and itself is a talent-repository for those musical groups and CIM has already trained a large number of outstanding musicians for them.
Since its foundation, CIM has been paying close attention to improving students’ musicianship and many students trained by the academy are prize-winners of various large musical competitions. It’s a previlege to study in such world first-class campus and I believe it’s a dream place and heart’s quest for any music students. Now let’s take a look at the CIM’s enviable teaching facilities: the conservatory owns teaching rooms, practices houses, rhythm dance gymnasium, technique study center, concert halls among others. The collections of the library include all kinds of books, CD recordings, compact discs for the convenience of students to borrow and read. They can absorb nourishment indefinitely in this sea of knowledge.
Apart from the complete hardware, the curriculum setting of the school centered on theories, musical history and literature history are also commendable. CIM is capable of providing an overall and high-quality musical education. The curriculum includes orchestra, voice training, composition, music theory and audio technology-related knowledge. In the meantime, the school also set up courses of solo, chamber, symphony and opera literature. In 1969, CIM, along with the CWRU (Case Western Reserve University) established art, composition, musical history and relevant musical subjects.
