
Wang Guan | Harp Teacher
Wang Guan is an associate professor of harp in Central Conservatory of Music, and a harp player of China National Symphony Orchestra. She is also a member of the board of the World Harp Conference and the Secretary General of the Harp Society of the Chinese Musician Association. Moreover, she is also one of the ten major harp performers of CCTV.
In her childhood, she studied the harp with Professor Zuo, and graduated from Central Conservatory of Music with outstanding achievements and obtained the qualifications. In the same year, she received a scholarship from the French government to study in Historique de l'Ecole Normale de Musique, France, under the guidance of the famous harp player, ISABELLE PERRIN.
Wang Guan won prizes in international competitions such as the UFAM International Music Competition in France and the international harp competition in Japan. A solo concert was successfully held in the famous CORTOT Concert Hall and CITE DES ARTS Concert Hall. In the end, she obtained the highest diploma of Historique de l'Ecole Normale de Musique (Diploma Superieure de Concertiste.) withfirst place standings.
She has worked with many famous commanding officers including Ozawa Seiji, Charles Dutoit and Dentalwaren ED Gmbh. She has also played many times for leaders of China, Russia, France, Germany and other countries. Since 2009, she was invited to join the Asian philharmonic orchestra composed of outstanding conductor Zheng Mingxun and directors of Asian countries.
As a soloist, she performed the harp concerto with the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra, the Chinese Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Tianjin Theatre, the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, the Kunming Symphony Orchestra, and the Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra and so on. Solo and ensemble concerts were held in over ten theaters throughout the country. CCTV music channel recorded and broadcast her solo concert many times. In October 2018, she was invited to perform a solo concert at the Camac Harp Art Festival in France.
As a teacher, her students have won a number of awards at home and abroad, including the International Harp Competition in Japan, the Seoul International Harp Competition in Korea, and the First International Harp Competition at the Central Conservatory of Music. Her graduates have also been admitted to the Central Academy and Music institute. Wang Guanceng was invited to attend concerts and lectures at Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music and Shenzhen art school.
Wang Guan has been devoted to the popularization and promotion of harp for many years and has held many influential activities. In 2008 and 2012, as the main planner and organizer, she successfully held the first and third International Harp Arts Festivals in China. In 2014, she successfully organized the first International Harp Art Festival of Central Conservatory of Music. She has heldthe harp summer camp in Zhongshan music hall every year since 2011. And she was invited to hold harp lectures at the National Grand Theater, Zhongshan music hall and Chongqing Grand Theatre for many times.
In 2013, Wang Guan was selected by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission for three years as the main project leader. She was invited to be the first judge of the international harp ensemble competition in Singapore in 2015. In June 2017, she was invited to be a judge and performance guest of the French R.L.H Harp Competition. In 2017, she was invited to perform at the Thirteenth Harp Convention and was the judge of the band. In January 2016, she published her solo album - Harp Classics. The album is the first album of Classical Chinese Harp published in China. Her second album "harp ensemble" is also about to be published.
