Everyone faces choices that will determine one’s personal values and life path.

Looking back, I believe that Beijing Eastbank Academy of Music and The Juilliard School are two milestones of my life. Chinese education prioritizes fundamental training that instills discipline and a hard-working attitude in students. Western education, on the other hand, emphasizes individuality and creativity. To be a successful musician, one is better served to balance both the Chinese and the Western educational philosophies and approaches. Influenced by different cultural backgrounds, we embrace diversity. In 2003, I returned to China and began my teaching career, with the mission to bring back this philosophy of diversity to my home country and to Beijing Eastbank Academy of Music

With a rigorous learning atmosphere and ever-improving spirit, Beijing Eastbank Academy of Music prepares talented students for world-class music institutions and comprehensive universities. BEAM strictly controls the student-faculty ratio and balances music and academic courses. BEAM maintains strong relationships with top institutions worldwide and provides customized college counseling for each student.

Bertrand Russell, a British philosopher, once said: “Diversity is essential to happiness; success is not the mass production under a single standard.” In an ideal educational system, a thousand students should have a thousand paths and modes to success. Individuality and excellence are not mutually exclusive. Diversity is rooted in a fundamental goal: to be a well-rounded person who is confident because of critical thinking and creativity, and happy because of love and responsibility.
