Collective Memory, an Appointment with a Chamber Music in Prague AMEROPA Music Festival

“In the frescoes ofceilings and walls and in the crash between approachable toes of the balletdancers and the floor, the Prague AMEROPA Music Festival finally kicked off. Mysoul was deeply shaken by the original, cultural root characteristic. No wonderthat the perceptive person said: whatever we would sacrifice, let us pray itwas not music.”

The words mentionedabove were written by the parents of students who participated in the musicfestival. The chamber orchestra plays in the following scenes, such as themagnificent Prague Castle—Martinic Palace, solemn Břevnov Monastery andfantastic Martinů music hall of Prague College of Music. Every student inPrague enjoyed the baptism of music to their souls.

The chamber music withhigh intensity workshop in Beijing would end on July 20th, and therewas a chamber concert in the Ancestral Temple on the next day. Then it was atrip to the Prague Ameropa chamber music festival. The students were with thechamber music all the summer.

The Ameropa musicfestival has a history of 22 years until now. The professional musicians from NorthAmerica and Europe gathered in Prague. The chamber music is the core of thefestival. During the festival, we cooperated with trainees and professors fromdifferent countries and regions. We could go to the concert, get rehearsal orgive performances in the concert.

The places to hold theconcert including: the Prague Castle, music hall of college, TheresienPerformance hall, Kutná Hora music hall and so on. Where could we find aplace for playing chamber music than it?

Although there werebeautiful scenery and music, we would still be tired when we took the workshopand rehearsal with high intensity everyday. A parent walked by said:“When Icome out of the violin room and see the professors were still practicing forthe teachers’ concert the next day, I hurriedly encourage the children. Look, your teachers are more laborious than you, because they love music; they neverfeel tired however hard it is. And you will find it is worthy of you to workhard, so cheer tomorrow.”

In the first week inPrague, it was almost sunny everyday. Nearly everyday was music festival. Whena reporting concert finished, we had one day to admire the beautiful Prague. Wesaw many street performers play an excellent game. A certain student said witha smile: “Do not call me, I will not go.” In the evening, we took a walk alongthe river and watch the performances at the same time. There is no coin left inour pockets without finishing the street. The Prague was filled with blood ofmusic.

When we went to themusic museum for the exhibition, the staff in the museum exceptionally allowedus to play the ancient violin which was prohibited from touching originally andworth millions. How fantastic it was to listen to the “Volta Watts River” bySmetana when placing oneself in the Volta watts river.

The fantastic memorywas a collective one of everyone about the AMEROPA music festival.

The Prague AMEROPA music festival opened from July24th to August 8th. What kind of routine they would havein the next days? First Let us have a look.
