A Concert for the visit to the United States from Liu Yaqi, other students and teachers of CCPS

Under theadvice of her teacher, Liu Yaqi chose violin as her major and meanwhile applied for music management as her second major. Speaking of her interest in music management, that pursuit came from her experiences at Central Conservatory Preparatory School.

“When there was a concert for us, we got a tight schedule since we had to be prepared to make presentations and solo and ensemble repertoires, and had to practice alot. At first, we decided to get the photos we needed and we were happy about this. Afterwards, we got into the rehearsal phase when we had some disappointments, which I thought were okay because they were necessary artistic discussions weneed to have a responsible attitude towards the audience. Finally, our efforts paid off. We made a fantastic concert for the audience. Organization of this concert was very difficult that it gave me the deepest impression at CCPS and that it also gave me some interest in music management. After that, we organized many concerts together again, from which I felt happy with how the music was managed.”

Looking back on the three year at high school, Liu Yaqi said “I enjoyed myself everymoment, every day and every year here at CCPS.”

“The past three years at CCPS taught me independence. Everything had to be done on myown, from daily accommodations to laundry, and cleaning my room, that also included my university applications as well. With the cooperation of myteachers, I applied for universities and submitted my materials all by myself, which was a long process of waiting and greatly honed my willpower. Apart from my studies, the love and unity I felt from my class was the biggest gain for me.Living with my teachers and classmates made me really happy.”

“Learn to be a good man before you learn to play the violin well.”

I learned to play the violin from my teacher Chai Liang, who is always very responsible and tries his best to teach. He also unreservedly passed on to me all his violin techniques. The assistant teacher, Liu helped a lot with my violin elementary practice by patiently teaching section by sections and reminding me to keep practicing. Both my professional teachers andmyother teachers in the teaching department were very conscientious. I thank every teacher for their help. Especially, to teacher Chai Liang’s remark when he said, “Learn to be a good person before you learn to play the violin well” which had a great influence onme.

The day before Liu Yaqi went to college in the United States, the teachers and studentsof CCPS held a brief farewell party for her. And at the same time, she made a video for them.
