Shu Ya | Conductor Teacher

Shu Ya, graduated from the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing under the tutelage of Professor Wu Lingfen and Sang Yesong. She obtained her second Master’s Degree in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in 2019 (with Maestro Mark Gibson), where she was awarded a full scholarship and concurrently served as the Conductor Assistant of the Philharmonia Orchestra and Concert Orchestra of College-Conservatory of music.

Since 2009,she has participated in a variety of workshops and masterclasses: Berlin International Conducting Masterclass, workshop of Vijay Upadhyaya (Professor of the Vienna University School of Music), Neil Varon (Director of Orchestra conducting department of Eastman School of Music), Yan Liangkun and Han Zhongjie.

The manifestation of Shu Ya’s talents, skills, personality, and mentor-ship come together in a complete package on the podium.

In 2013, she was invited to the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) in the United States. At the same time, She joined the Asia-Pacific Youth Choir and performed at the opening ceremony, which made a great success.

In December 2014, she has conducted the 2015 Beijing University Student New Year Concert at the National Center for the Performing Arts of China.

In March 2015, she was selected to the “Young Talent Conductor Education Program” by China National Arts Fund.

In June 2015, she has conducted the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra for the "Young Talent Conductor Education" concert.

Since 2015, she has successfully conducted main-stage Operas such as "Carmen", "La Traviata", "Tosca", "Suor Angelica", "Don Pasquale", "Cosi Fan Tutte" at the College Conservatory of Music in the United States.

In March 2016, she performed a special concert of Chinese chorus works with China“Harmonia Choir”in Seattle, USA.

In May 2017, she conducted the 5th Anniversary Concert of the “Harmonia Choir” at the Beijing Concert Hall.

In July 2018, she was the winner at the Conducting Competition of the Opera Boot camp of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music held in Ohio, United States.

In January 2019, she was selected for the 56th France Besancon International Conducting Competition.

In March and April 2019, she was invited to New York and Berlin to work with the Juilliard School of Music Symphony Orchestra and Berlin Sinfonietta. Her wonderful performance has been widely acclaimed by the public.
