This graduation season is destined to be an extraordinary one for Central Conservatory Preparatory School. Xie Yang, a graduate of the 2016 violin major, received an admissions letter from Manhattan School of Music in the United States soon after LiuYaqi was enrolled in University of Delaware and Wu Yuanchun got admitted to the University of Cincinnati.

1.The Long Journey of School

Xie Yang, born in a musical family in Shantou,Guangdong province, and began playing the violin with the guide of his motherat the age of 4. He was on stage at the tender age of 5. He got admitted to theprimary school affiliated to Central Conservatory of Music as the third-place winnerin April 2006. Before that, he had a hard time studying the violin. He was led from Shantou to Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, and Beijing by his mother to learn skills from different masters and finally succeeded in crossing the gate of professional academies. After Xie Yang got into the primary school affiliated to Central Conservatory of Music, he got excellent professional achievements and academic records, 6 semesters in a row and then got recommended into the affiliated school of Central Conservatory Preparatory School.

2. Music is part of his life.

“For many families, two hours of practice means two hours of fighting with their kids. If parents want to cultivate their children into professional performers, the next 10 years will be chaos!” said by Chai Liang, a member of the academic decision-making committee of Central Conservatory Preparatory School. There are thousands of people playing the piano or the violin in the world but only two of them are those who are willing to suffer from pains and face the dull routines of everyday life. Xie Yang is one of them.

Learning to play the violin is a systematic, long-termproject, which means success takes a lot of hard work. He practices every day. Even if he is sick in bed, he will sit down to practice. When his family gathers together, they’ll hold a private mini concert, where the piano, the violin and vocal music make a mini chamber orchestra. For Xie Yang, playing the violin isa part of his life.

Xie Yang’s love for music and his efforts are destined to lead him onto a bigger stage. This time with his choice of attending the Manhattan School of Music, he will become a more successful musician.
