Xu Meng | Viola Teacher

Xu Meng is a young teacher at the Central Conservatory of Music and a viola player, living in Germany.

She was taught by Professor Wang Shaowu, a well-known violae ducator, by Professor Matthias Buchholz from Hochschule für Musik Köln and Professor Nobuko Imai, a famous viola player. She successively studied in, the Secondary School associated with the Central Conservatory of Music, at the Central Conservatory of Music in Hochschule für Musik Köln and at the Conservatoriumvan Amsterdam. In 2013, majoring in a viola and chamber music, she graduated from Hochschulefür Musik Köln with unprecedented full marks. Later in the same year, she came back to her mother Alma Mater, Central Conservatory of Music to be a teacher.

Xu Meng was once invited to join many international music festivals, such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festivals in 2008 and 2009, being the deputy chief viola of the symphony or chestra, Vienna, Austria, Schoenberg Master Class, Japan Pacific International Music Festival, Seiji Ozaka Ongaku-juku and Saito Kinen Festival, Switzerland Seiji Ozaka IMAS Chamber Music Festival, Italy Montepucciano Chamber Music Festival, Shanghai “Mad forViola” International Viola Art Festival and Zhongxing Chamber Music Art Week. Sheonce cooperated with Professor Li Xincao a famous conductor, Christoph Eschenbach, Kolja Blacher the concert master of Lucerne Music Festival, aviolinist Heinrich Schiff, a cellist Michael Tilson Thomas, a conductor Philippe Graffin, with Jeroen Reuling and Ms. Zhang Xian.

In the winter of 2012, she was invited by Seiji Ozawa and Sadao Harada, a cellistin the tour of Madama Butterfly and was supervised and conducted by Seiji Ozawa as the chief viola when Seiji Ozawa came back to the stage after her recovery from an illness.

In June 2016, she won the first prize in the Viola,Cello, Bass Competition held by Freunde und Foerderer. In 2013, she was recommended by NobukoImai to be a visiting scholar at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with aTalent Grant scholar ship. Now, she is invited as the visiting art of Conservato riumvan Amsterdam.

Ensuring many performances every year,she was also invited to createa master class in the Conservatoriumvan Amsterdam,in the Local Conservatory of Music in China and in the Baotou Symphony Orchestra and was praised.
